View Full Version : Oak Island

Shellback
Headed to Oak Island tomorrow for a week and would like some info on the bait in the water. Are there still finger mullet? Anyone catching any drum worth mentioning? Weather looks good middle of the week just hope to catch a few fish. Taking a land locked brother-inlaw from Arizona who has never been to the east coast and this will be his first at ocean fishing. Any suggestions will be welcomed. If all else fails I guess I could be a planker for a few days.  What ever that is.

no planks on Bald Head Island... :D

But the fishing ought to be great out towards the point.

Off the island over in Southport is a outdoor canopysandwich/beer joint right on the water by the old commercial dock. Make sure to check it out if you day trip over there.. it is an A+ for food and suds. !!!

For drum try around the coast guard station/baptist assembly docks. Plenty of finger mullet still around. Stop by the tackle shop on fish factory road & get the latest scoop.

Yacht Basin Provision Co in downtown Southport is definately worth a stop.

:) Provision Co. has some of the best shrimp and crab cakes around. Just hate they close in the winter. !!! Also one located on the waterway at Holden Beach causway.
