View Full Version : Where to rent a boat slip

Jim and Ginny
Have a friend coming to HI from NJ by boat. They are looking for a slip for the period of 7/17 to 7/24.

The boat is 32 x 14 and supposedly only needs 3 foot of water.

The owner is hoping to keep the daily rent under $100.

They will be staying in Frisco while they are here.

Which of the marinas between Buxton and Hatteras can handle the boat?

Odens, Teachs Lair, Hatteras Harbor, and (oh man brain cramp) Hatteras Village marina. Also Frisco Cove Marina can handle it, but its an additional 15 mile boat ride and as well equiped (IMHO) to handle a bigger boat. All are suitable, call for rates, shop around..Good luck.

Frisco Cove marina would be the closest to where the crew is staying.

Jim has gone out from Fisco Cove with the neighbor in a smaller boat and they had difficulty. Based upon his experiencem, Jim was concerned about getting in and out of the marina with the larger a boat.

Is that what you meant about an additional 15 mile ride or did you just mean additional 15 mile to get to hatteras inlet?

Well, I meant you would still have to drive to frisco if you stayed down in hatteras, but I "think" Hatteras would be best for a boat of that size. I had my 21 ftr in frisco, and I think 32 would be pushing it.

My vote is for village marina 252-985-2522. Easy to get in and out and super folks. They quoted me 1$ a foot a day or 6$ a foot a week for a 23'er. The drive to hatteras by car is better then running a 32'er through a shallow flat sound. Cheaper too.
