O'Coke Ferry 5/2

Same day I saw the deer swim over to Ocracoke...later in the day, bride wants dinner at the Back Porch, so off we go on the 4:30 ferry. One of the first on, right up front (or back, depending on your view!). Pretty good churn, but uneventful until we are in the O'Coke side, turning in the basin. Crew comes through and removes the chocks and stations themselves forward at the net to offload, when the guy next to me wakes from a nap, starts his truck, puts it in drive and drives into the netting on the front of the ferry, just missing one female crew member - only had time to say "Holy Sh**" - somehow the netting held until the crew was able to get to his window and scream at him...backed him up a few feet to get him off the net. I asked the staff if he was drunk (apparently) and if they could hold him at the dock (no), so the sherriff was called and had him pulled at the campground when we went by.

Must have been a full moon...oh, yeah, it was.
