View Full Version : Another Idiot

Glamour kitty
I'm picking my way up to Frisco this afternoon, lots of water still creeping out on the road in the village. Everybody is being polite and sharing the high ground and speeds are mellow. Just as I am rolling thru the last puddle I hear somebody blowing a horn behind me. As I start to accelerate into the 55mph zone, which is clear of water, the 4th car in line behind me jumps into the other lane and puts the hammer down. I was doing 45 and he passed me just under the speed of sound while shaking his fist at me. Want to guess what his destination was? Thats right, he was only going to the Frisco Pier, did I mention he had two kids in the car with him?

Instead of just giving idiot's like that a ticket maybe North Carolina should add a line to the law that goes something like this.

In addition to the monetary penalty for stated moving traffic violation said individual will be banned from driving on the roads of North Carolina for a period of ____________________ (number of months according to severity of violation). and at the expiration of said ban the individual will be required to take and pass a standard North Carolina Driver Safety course to regain driving privileges in the state of North Carolina.

That nutcake was probably some zealot birdwatcher who'd heard that there was a rare, endangered, Green-eyed Baloneyum, or some such thing, sitting on the beach. The chance of a lifetime to see something to die for, you know.

To start, it's been a really long time since I made my last post. Unfortunately that first one is going to be somewhat inflammatory.

The driving situation was one of the reasons I sold my cottage in Frisco and basically left Hatteras. I agree with the poster, people need to realize that when it isn't safe or good for cars to drive so fast, they shouldn't be getting angry or overly impatient.

That said...

Of course, if we hadn't elected officials that overdeveloped the island into the new Kill Devil Hills, replete with all it's chain stores, with a one lane highway for 50 miles, that enacted proactive laws that would have stopped this ridiculous kind of overdevelopment before it hit the back yards of the towns of certain individuals- rather than trying to react to situations and fight them when they occur, (which by the way makes all the people involved in creating these reactive laws look very bad, and makes the people that they are trying to regulate less willing to cooperate)then perhaps people would be more patient on the roadways as there would probably be a few less drivers and there would be more room....

The fact that that everyone, including myself allowed that to happen should be the #1 post on Sharpie Showcase. There was and continues to be no bigger bonehead move than that. I apologize for having to say that, but it is the truth.
